We are proud to announce that our students achieved great results in this year’s United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) competitions.

The UK Mathematics Trust was founded in 1996 and its charitable aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics. UKMT’s biggest competitions are the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mathematical Challenges, which have over 700.000 entries each year, and are the UK's most popular school competitions. The highest-scoring students are invited to take part in follow-on rounds such as the Junior, Grey, Pink and Senior Kangaroos and the Junior, Cayley, Hamilton and Maclaurin Olympiads. The high scorers in the Senior Mathematical Challenge are invited to sit the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1, which feeds in to the training and selection of the team to represent the UK at the prestigious International Mathematical Olympiad, the annual Olympic games of mathematics and other international competitions.

ISB got great results at UKMT Junior, where 10 students participated (Year 6 to Year 8), winning 3 Silver certificates and 1 Bronze. We are delighted at the aptitude and performance of our students in UKMT Intermediate, where 30 ISB participants in Years 9 to 11 gained a record 8 Bronze medals, 10 Silvers and an incredible 6 Golds.

In the 3rd round of Mathematics Without Borders (MWB) taking place on 16th of June, 3 ISB students won Bronze certificates. Four students, Giorgio S., George V., Mihail V. and Jiale P., qualified for the final phase and they will represent our school on 16th of August.

20 #PrimarySchool students participated in the competition, having won 2 Gold, 7 Silver and 15 Bronze medals. 11 Primary students will participate in the final round of MWB, on 16 August. Congratulations, everyone, and special thanks to Ms. Tuba Guner!

ISB’s Head of Mathematics and ICT Department,  Ms. Mihaela Stan - Hapenciuc, says she is proud of the effort our students have put in. “All the participants continued working in these hard times, continuously and with passion. We are very proud of them all!”
