International School of Bucharest is a not-for-profit private international school registered as a subsidiary of Lumina Foundation (Fundatia Lumina Institutii de Invatamant), under Romanian Law.

The Lumina board appoints a Director who is responsible for the direct control and running of the school. General policy is decided by the School’s Senior Management Team. Financial management is carried out by Lumina Foundation.

Senior Management Team (SMT)

The Director, Head of Schools, Deputy Heads and Key Stage Coordinators, Head of Pastoral Care, Head of Enrichment and IB Coordinator comprise the SMT. The Director is the head of the SMT and reports to the Board.

Born in Erzurum-Turkey, studied Nuclear Energy Engineering in Hacettepe University, Ankara, and then graduated from ODTU, Middle East Technical University-Physics Department. He has been working for Lumina Educational Institutions since moving to Romania in 2000. Has the passion for teaching physics, using ICT in classroom and preparing projects for International Olympiads. He is the co-author of two Physics books for high school students. He enjoys robotics, all kinds of smart gadgets, calligraphy, and football. He is married and has one daughter.

Mr. Yusuf Suha ORHAN is a math teacher since 1993. He is proud to have taught at ISB in its first year, from 1996 to 2008. He has worked both as a teacher and manager over this period. He's back after 7 years of working in other countries and thinks it's a grace to work at ISB. Mr. Orhan taught maths in all levels at ISB, from KS 3 to A-level, and at present he is the DP coordinator of IB programme and the Deputy Director of the school.

Kerry Harris is the Head od Primary at ISB, she graduated with a 2:1 Bachelor of Education Honors Degree at the University of Wolverhamton, she completed her MA in Educational Leadership at the University of Brighton, her home town in the UK; she completed her NPQH in 2011.

Kerry gained 16 years’ experience working in the UK in various teaching and management positions before she decided to venture into international education. Whilst in Bangkok Kerry worked at an accredited British style International school and held the position of Primary Head Teacher and Assistant Principal. She very much enjoyed her four years in Thailand with her three children before returning to Europe. Kerry has two daughters attending the secondary school at ISB and a son is now at University in the UK. She is very much enjoying working at ISB and living in Bucharest.

David gained his degree and teaching qualification from Glasgow University’s Faculty of Engineering in 1994 and started teaching in Scotland. He has worked in International schools since 1998 having spent time in Indonesia, Peru, Jordan and Thailand before moving to Romania. He is married with 2 lovely daughters who are students here at ISB and they all hope to be in Bucharest for several years.

Mrs. Ingrid has graduated from The National Academy of Physical Education Sports - Bucharest where she earned her BSc. degree. Shortly after her graduation she moved to The Middle East starting her teaching career within a British Curriculum school. Four years later she moved to Canada, continuing teaching to all of the Key Stages. She also upgraded her Certification of Qualified Coach in Gymnastics in Toronto, and earned a diploma in Teaching English As a Second Language (TESL) in Toronto. While in Kuwait she was a CEO of The Kuwait Foreign Schools Activities Conference and Head of the PE department at Kuwait English School, where she initiated and successfully implemented the Cambridge IGCSE Program for Physical Education. Mrs. Ingrid joined The ISB team in September 2008 as Head of the PE department. She is a dedicated mother of two boys and in her spare time she likes to watch movies, listen to music and read books and magazines. She also loves to travel, enjoying the beauty of each place. She is a committed teacher who strives to promote, implement and improve awareness, motivation and importance of physical education among, not only students, but colleagues and parents as well.

Simon is our Deputy Headteacher for the Primary School and has joined us from Dubai. He is originally from the UK where he began his teaching career. Simon has has held several different roles in schools in the UK, USA, Czech Republic and Dubai. While in the USA he completed his MA in Educational Leadership from Clemson University. 
Outside of school Simon coaches American Football and previously has coached professionally and internationally. He also enjoys football and cheering on Wales' rugby team. He is looking forward to exploring the tranquil and scenic Romanian countryside.
