ISB is authorized by Ministry of Education to operate as a private school following a non-Romanian curriculum.
The Ministry of Education in Romania recognises the Year 10 and Year 11 studies at ISB (which are the equivalent of Grade 9 and Grade 10 in the Romanian Educational System), only if the students passed at least 5 IGCSE exams (3 mandatory subjects - English, Mathematics, Science and 2 optional subjects).
Year 12 and Year 13 studies finalised with General Certificate of Education (which are the equivalent of Grade 11 and Grade 12 in the Romanian educational system) are recognised as the equivalent of the Baccalaureate Diploma in Romania for at least 4 Advanced Subsidiary (AS) exams and at least 2 Advanced Level (A2 Level) exams at subjects similar with the ones in the upper classes of high school in the Romanian educational system.
The IB Diploma which will replace A levels for Year 12 and 13 starting in September 2017 carries full equivalence.
